Welcome, neighbor. Clear water, clear prices, clear answers. We're here to help, and we're glad you came by.
St. Pete water is safe. It's also hard, and it tastes like the pool.
We test your water right at your kitchen sink, give you a flat price in writing before any work starts, and install systems sized for what's actually in your line. You own every part we put in your house.
No cost and no pitch. You keep a written copy of your results whether you buy anything or not.
Figures from the City of St. Petersburg's published water quality data. Your house can read differently depending on your street, your plumbing, and your water heater. That is what the test is for.

Our drinking water and softener prices are right here. Combination and whole-home systems are priced after your free water test, because the right size depends on your water, your household, and your space. Your written quote is good for 30 days, and nothing on this page is a rental.
The Canteen
Under-sink reverse osmosis at the kitchen tap. Water that tastes like good bottled water, without hauling cases home from the store.
- Four-stage RO under the sink, certified to NSF/ANSI 58
- Dedicated faucet in a finish you choose
- Fridge and ice maker line tied in on request
- Filter changes from $95 a year
RO treats only the tap it is attached to. It pairs with any whole-home system below for the best water in the house.
Whole-home systems
Every tap and shower in the house, from our economy setup to our most complete.
The Ranch Hand
Just the softener. It goes after the hard-water problems: crusty faucets, spotty dishes, and scale building up in your water heater.
- Metered softener certified to NSF/ANSI 44, sized to your hardness and household
- Brine tank you can check at a glance
- Fleck or Clack control valve, the standard brands any plumber in town can service
- Salt every six to eight weeks, delivery available
This softens your water but does not remove chloramine, so the pool taste and smell stay. If that bothers you, step up to the Foreman.
Start with a testThe Foreman
Softening and carbon filtration stacked in one tank, kept apart by a mid-plate. Two jobs, one footprint.
- Carbon on top cuts chlorine taste and smell
- Softening resin below handles hard water
- One tank plus a brine tank, a good fit for tight garages and closets
- Fleck or Clack control valve, the standard brands any plumber in town can service
One tank holds less carbon than a dedicated tank, so the carbon wears out sooner. For the longest-lasting setup, look at the Trail Boss.
Start with a testThe Trail Boss
Sediment filter, a dedicated carbon tank, and a separate softener. Every stage gets its own tank, so each one works at full strength and lasts longer.
- Sediment pre-filter protects everything behind it
- Dedicated catalytic carbon tank rated for chloramine
- Metered softener certified to NSF/ANSI 44
- Carbon lasts roughly five to seven years
Takes more floor space than the Foreman. We check your space at the water test.
Start with a testThe Head Wrangler
Everything in the Trail Boss plus UV light. Soft, filtered water with its own protection against bacteria and viruses, even when a boil-water alert hits.
- Sediment pre-filter protects everything behind it
- Dedicated catalytic carbon tank rated for chloramine
- Metered softener certified to NSF/ANSI 44
- UV light that stops bacteria and viruses before they reach any tap
The UV lamp gets swapped once a year. Add the Canteen at the kitchen sink for the full setup.
Start with a testEvery price and quote includes equipment, professional installation, and your free in-home water test. If your city requires a permit, or your home has a condo setup or older plumbing that needs extra work, we add it to your written quote up front. You see every dollar before you say yes, never as a surprise on installation day. See what each stage does.
What happens to your water, stage by stage
Every system we install is built from these stages, in this order. Here is what each one catches and what you will notice at home.
-
Stage 1
Sediment filter
A pleated cartridge right where the water enters your house. It is a strainer, and it goes first so the grit never reaches the equipment behind it.
- What it catches
- Sand, rust flakes, and bits of pipe scale that come loose in the city lines and your own plumbing.
- What you notice
- Fewer clogged faucet aerators and showerheads, and the stages after it last longer.
- Upkeep
- A new cartridge every few months. It is a five-minute swap, and it is covered on our filter plan.
-
Stage 2
Catalytic carbon
A tall tank of specially treated carbon. St. Pete disinfects with chloramine, which ordinary carbon struggles to remove. Catalytic carbon is made for it.
- What it catches
- Chloramine and chlorine, the tastes and smells that come with them, and a share of the disinfection byproducts in the city report.
- What you notice
- No pool smell in the shower, better-tasting coffee and tea, and water that feels less harsh on skin and hair.
- Upkeep
- The tank backwashes itself. The carbon gets replaced roughly every five to seven years.
-
Stage 3
Water softener
A tank of resin beads that swaps out the minerals that make water hard. It sits after the carbon, so chloramine is already gone and the resin lasts longer.
- What it catches
- Calcium and magnesium, the hardness. St. Pete water runs about 9.6 grains per gallon, which counts as hard.
- What you notice
- No white crust on faucets and shower glass, spot-free dishes, less soap needed, and a water heater that is not filling up with scale.
- Upkeep
- The brine tank needs salt every six to eight weeks. We can deliver it and fill it for you.
-
Stage 4 recommended
UV light
A stainless steel chamber with an ultraviolet lamp inside. Water is treated in a split second as it flows past the light, with no chemicals added.
- What it catches
- Bacteria, viruses, and cysts like giardia, the same germs boil-water alerts warn about. The light scrambles their DNA so they cannot multiply or make anyone sick.
- What you notice
- Peace of mind at every tap. Once the carbon stage removes the city's chloramine, UV takes over the job of keeping germs out of your water. And when a main break or storm brings a boil-water alert, your home has its own line of defense.
- Upkeep
- A new lamp once a year and a quick wipe of the glass sleeve. It runs on a regular outlet, so if the power is out, follow any official boil-water notice.
-
Stage 5 kitchen tap
Reverse osmosis
A compact unit under the kitchen sink that pushes water through a very fine membrane. It treats only the water you drink and cook with.
- What it catches
- Most dissolved solids left over, including the small amount of sodium the softener adds, plus lead and other contaminants the system is certified for.
- What you notice
- Water that tastes like good bottled water, clearer ice, and no more hauling cases home from the store.
- Upkeep
- Filters yearly and a membrane every few years, from $95 a year. Also covered on our filter plan.
Why your skin may feel better after the carbon stage
The city adds chloramine to kill germs on the way to your house, and it does that job well. The trouble is it doesn’t stop working when it reaches your shower. In a hot shower some of it ends up in the steam you breathe, and it strips away the natural oils that keep skin soft and calm. For a lot of people, that shows up as skin that feels tight, itchy, or dry right after showering, red blotchy patches, or hair that feels like straw.
Catalytic carbon pulls the chloramine out before the water ever reaches your shower head, so you’re rinsing off with water that isn’t still carrying disinfectant. When you add a softener too, soap rinses off fully instead of leaving a film behind, which takes away another common source of itch.
Everyone’s skin is different, and we’re water people, not doctors. If you have eczema or another skin condition, filtered water can be a helpful piece of the picture, but talk to your dermatologist about treatment.
Not every house needs every stage. Your water test tells us which ones will make a difference for you, and we will tell you which ones to skip.

Our promise to you
Our 14-day satisfaction guarantee
Every system we install comes with our 14-day satisfaction guarantee. Most people notice the difference the first time they turn on the tap, but if you aren't happy with how your water looks, smells, feels, or tastes, call us. Most fixes are a quick settings change we can walk you through over the phone, and if it needs a visit, we come out. If we still can't make it right, we remove the system and refund you in full.
Why we started this
The Water Wrangler Filtration was started by Slater Salazar, who spent years running a family trade business in the Tampa Bay area. The rule there was simple: tell people the truth about what their house needs, charge a fair price, and stand behind the work.
“Quality doesn’t need to be expensive.”
The rule of the family
Water treatment usually doesn't work that way. Homeowners get “free water test” mailers from companies they have never heard of, three-hour sales pitches at the kitchen table, prices that change depending on who is asking, and equipment with proprietary parts only one dealer can service.
So we built the opposite. An honest water test instead of a sales demonstration. A flat price in writing before you say yes. Standard equipment you own outright and any plumber can service. If the right answer for your house is a $900 system instead of a $5,000 one, that is what we will tell you.

Common questions
Straight answers to what people ask us most. Don't see yours? Call or text and you'll get the owner, not a call center.
Call (727) 520-6317Is the water test really free?
Yes. We come to your house, test your water at the kitchen sink, and go over the results with you. It takes about 20 minutes, there's no trip charge inside our service area, and you keep a written copy of your results whether you buy anything or not.
How soon can you install, and how long does it take?
Most installs happen the same week you schedule. The install itself is one visit, usually under four hours, and the water is only off for part of that time.
Who does the installation?
An experienced professional installer. They bring all the equipment, install it, set the system up for your water, and walk you through the upkeep before they leave.
When do I pay?
Once your system is installed and running. You'll have a flat price in writing before you say yes, and that price is good for 30 days.
Do I need a permit?
Some cities require one and some don't. If yours does, we pull it and add the cost to your written quote up front, so it's never a surprise on installation day.
What does the 14-day guarantee cover?
If you aren't happy with how your water looks, smells, feels, or tastes in the first 14 days, call us. Most fixes are a quick settings change, and if it needs a visit, we come out. If we still can't make it right, we remove the system and refund you in full.
Do I own the equipment?
Yes, every part. No rentals and no proprietary valves. We use Fleck and Clack control valves, the standard brands any plumber in town can service.
What upkeep is there?
Softeners need salt every six to eight weeks, and we can deliver it. Filters and UV lamps get replaced on a schedule, which depends on the system. We'll tell you exactly what yours needs at the install, and our filter plan can handle it for you.
I'm on city water. Do I really need UV?
City water is disinfected at the treatment plant, but that protection can fade by the time it travels through miles of pipe to your tap, especially in older neighborhoods and at the end of long lines.
There's also a second reason. A good carbon filter removes the city's chloramine, which is what gives you better-tasting water. But once it's gone, nothing in your water is left to stop bacteria from growing in your pipes and water heater. A UV light picks up that job, killing bacteria and viruses in every drop as it enters your house, without adding any chemicals.
And when a main break, storm, or boil-water alert does happen, your home already has its own protection. Your free water test helps you decide if it's right for you.
What areas do you serve?
Anywhere within about 50 miles of St. Petersburg, including Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota, and Pasco. See the full list and map. Just outside the line? Call us, we can usually still help.
